SOIL AND GROUNDWATER REMEDIATION

Shreenath International utilizes the experience and skills of its multi-disciplinary professionals to evaluate, select, design and implement various technologies for soil and groundwater remediation. Our experience in the design and operation of remedial systems ranges form single contaminant plumes at small facilities to large facilities with several combined contaminant plumes from various sources requiring different remedial technologies and large-scale treatment.

Shreenath International's sound project management capabilities, technical expertise and regulatory awareness are invaluable in providing project direction, meeting stipulated deadlines, and avoiding unnecessary financial penalties to maintain regulatory compliance.

SPECIFIC SERVICES:

Initially, Shreenath International performs site characterization studies to assess the nature and extent of contamination in soil and groundwater and to understand the hydrogeology of a site. Before the Firm evaluates remedial alternatives, additional investigative work may be performed to identify the contaminates of concern, the mechanisms controlling their fate and transport in the subsurface, and the potential risk to human health and the environment. This information allows the Firm to develop a remedial strategy and to screen appropriate technologies for further consideration.

Remedial Objectives
Shreenath International assists its clients in identifying a strategy for site remediation. Initial work may focus on source control to prevent further release of contaminants and plume contaminant to control any further migration of groundwater contamination. Contaminant recovery efforts involve removal of free product from the groundwater and the reduction of residual contaminant concentrations in soils. Recovery and treatment of dissolved contaminants in groundwater is typically performed during the last phase of remediation. Shreenath International negotiates with regulatory agencies for site remediation compliance standards, including treatment discharge standards and media cleanup goals. We perform site-specific risk assessments to characterize receptor exposures and identify the effectiveness of remedial technology alternatives in mitigating exposure hazards.
Feasibility Study
Shreenath International performs feasibility and pilot scale studies to evaluate the effectiveness of implementing various remedial technologies at a particular site. The Firm evaluates various factors in selecting technologies, including short-term versus long-term effectiveness, reliability, constructability, and capital and maintenance costs. At some sites, a combination of technologies may be implemented to contain, recover, and treat soil and groundwater contaminants.

We are familiar with various containment technologies including slurry walls, liners, and hydraulic pumping and injection systems. Contaminant recovery techniques, which are utilized, include extraction wells, interceptor trenches, soil vapor extraction systems, and conventional soil excavation. Contaminant treatment methods applied by Shreenath International include air stripping, air and stream sparging, thermal, catalytic oxidation, activated carbon absorption, biological degradation, in-situ and ex-situ, and stabilization.
Remedial Design
Shreenath International prepares detailed design and equipment specifications for its clients to utilize as "blueprints" for construction of soil and groundwater remedial systems. Our engineers practice simplicity in designing remedial systems and utilize available equipment where possible.

The Firm incorporates flexibility into its remedial system design to allow cost-effective treatment and accommodate changes in contaminant volume, composition, and concentration. Shreenath International identifies monitoring and sampling requirements and adds components for these intended purposes.

Shreenath International assists its clients in estimating and evaluating capital and maintenance budgets for constructing and operating remedial systems. We utilize instrumentation, telemetry, and computerized logic control, where appropriate, to reduce costs for system operation and monitoring.
Construction Oversight
Shreenath International prepares bid documents for its clients to solicit bids from construction contractors, and provides oversight services during construction activities. We perform waste management and health and safety monitoring for our clients during construction activities.
Remedial System Startup
Shreenath International provides services to assist in the startup of remedial systems. The Firm defines initial operating parameters and monitors the actual system response, prepares manuals outlining standard operating and maintenance protocols and trains its clients' employees to operate the system.
System Operation and Maintenance
Shreenath International assists its clients in optimizing system operation, and performing system monitoring and maintenance activities. We can implement manual or automated monitoring, recording, and reporting methods to evaluate the effectiveness of the system. Shreenath International monitors and manages the maintenance of system equipment by periodic inspections and preventive maintenance tasks.
System Closure/Post-Closure
Shreenath International evaluates operational data and recommends shutdown of the system and site closure after the system has achieved cleanup goals and/or the technology has reached its treatment limit. Shreenath International performs post-closure monitoring to ensure that contaminant concentrations remain below closure standards.
